Conrad Letter: Redistribution of wealth is not OK

Norwich Bulletin, Posted Nov. 18, 2013

Citizen comments reflecting the belief that redistribution of wealth is much needed — in order to alleviate the poor’s pain — exposes a frightening pattern. These people also hate anyone who disagrees; that’s me.

It’s not okay to me, who was educated, that redistribution of wealth is a tool of Communism. It’s not okay to me who has worked, paid my commitments, and applied personal responsibility in life. It’s not okay to me who recognizes there is different perceptions of what “the poor” is, especially by the powerful controlling the purse strings.

Communism uses many tools already available to Americans. Its proponents champion redistribution of wealth, government acquisition of private property, government sponsorship and provision of daily living basics of its citizens. Their thirst for votes is insatiable, causing them to ignore the lessons of history surrounding that ideology.

Many are in shock now that the Affordable Care Act — Obamacare, the biggest redistribution of wealth schemes in history — impacts us all. We deserve the government we get. We voted for leadership that provides the costly lifestyle of the Communist.
