The Power of Government is Limited

As a tool of society, Government’s power to force or coerce an individual against his will is only legitimate if that person is harming others.

“the sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their number, is self-protection. That the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant. He cannot rightfully be compelled to do or forbear because it will be better for him to do so, because it will make him happier, because, in the opinions of others, to do so would be wise, or even right. Over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign.”  ― John Stuart MillOn Liberty

Budgetary Chaos in our State Capital and the Power of Five

Our Democrat controlled General Assembly (GA) has failed to pass a state biennium budget as we face a $5 billion deficit.  Their primary job is to pass a budget.

Town budgets are in turmoil.  Educational funding is in turmoil.  Over 4,000 state jobs at risk.  Citizens and businesses are fleeing the state along with their tax revenue.  We are currently ranked the worst state in the nation for fiscal health, our credit rating continues its downgrade, and our government cannot pass a budget.  For all to see, budgetary and fiscal chaos is now normal in Hartford.  Our economic demise apparent.

What a stunning lack of leadership from our General Assembly going back decades.

What we know about our budget.

If nothing is done, on 1 July Governor Malloy will be making the decisions, he’ll make the operational cuts he sees fit per his state constitutional and statutory authority.  Many Democrat legislators are afraid he will cut their sacred cows, exercise power they do not like.  They are not keen on the Governor controlling “their” money even if he is a Democrat.

What are the alternatives for the Democrat leadership? Continue reading

Former President Obama lives in a parallel universe.

Never short on hubris, I recently heard former President Obama bragging about Obamacare, his major accomplishment for the American public.  He (Godlike) gave insurance to 20 million people he brags.

Apparently, destroying health insurance for over 300 million people is not considered in his calculus; or that the health insurance industry is predictably collapsing from his socialist program, hardworking regular folk now priced out of having insurance they can afford to use.  Oblivious to the fact that America just elected Donald Trump because for one, they wanted Obamacare repealed, recognizing it for the failure that it is.

I’m told Obama is one of the smartest human beings walking the planet today, yet he is oblivious to what everyone else can see with their own eyes.  That’s how socialists roll; they know that the regular folk are just too stupid to know that their lives are enriched by central planners in Washington making these decisions for them.  In comrade Obama’s mind, it’s always someone else’s fault.

In a new Quinnipiac University Poll, 33% named Barack Obama the worst president since World War II. Only 8% named Obama as the best president.  He just edges out George W. Bush.

Maybe the American public is not as stupid as Obama thinks.

Obama Says Race Relations Better, Really?

President Obama told me tonight race relations are better.  Really.

Apparently, President Obama has missed the protests, rioting, looting and property ablaze that occurred across our entire country over the past two years, led by the group Black Lives Matter (BLM) and other race baiters.  You know, the lawless citizens who shut down cities, highways, and events.   You know, the group you allow and encourage to trample the rights of all other citizens.  You know, the group that chants “what do we want, dead cops, when do we want them, now”.  You had them to the White House to inspire them.  Cops were killed, they were happy.

How could he not know?  Maybe he’s just lying to us.  You know, like “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”.  Maybe he lives in a parallel universe where whatever he thinks must be true, is true.  He probably actually believes Americans are paying $2,500 less for insurance as he promised.

It’s as if our president doesn’t understand the difference between a protest, the right to assemble and offer lawful grievances against your government; and rioting, looting, or burning property.

Or maybe he does.

Tea Party 2016 Year End Report

With over 3 million members, the Tea Party continued to influence our elections. Ted Cruz won the Tea Party straw poll and was the preferred candidate with 70% of the vote, however, once Donald Trump was decided as the candidate, the Tea Party swallowed hard, and got behind the GOP candidate because defeating Hillary and her band of regressive acolytes was most important. Our 2016 goals were to defeat Hillary, help the GOP retain the House and Senate, and ensure the next Supreme Court Justice would be a constitutional conservative in the mold of Justice Scalia. Tea Party members:

– Made over 2,000,000 volunteer phone calls into PA, FL, OH, and NC alone
– Knocked on over 100,000 doors in PA, FL, OH, NC, and CA
– Delivered over 100,000 hand written letters and post cards to voters in PA
– Placed over 6,700,000 robo calls and robo quiz calls
– Delivered over 500,000 traditional political mail pieces

In addition to the presidential election, the Tea Party backed 25 winning House and Senate seats.

Locally, the CT GOP picked up 3 more seats in the state Senate and now have an historical tie at 18 to 18. In the state House, the GOP picked up net 8 seats, and the House is now split 79-72. Imagine, in 2008, and prior to the Tea Party, the CT Democrat party had a 77 seat advantage over the GOP in the State House, today that margin is just 7 seats.

Locally, Anne Dauphinais, a Tea Party conservative, defeated an incumbent progressive liberal and was elected as our State Representative from District 44 (towns of Killingly and Plainfield).

Collusion is Fraud

Hopefully one good outcome from this election is the MSM is exposed to more citizens as the Leftist illiberal shills for the Democrat Party they are.  Consider, WikiLeaks exposed a list of over 40 self-righteous “news” personnel colluding with the Hillary campaign. These media elites conspire with one candidate over another (first Bernie, then Donald) using their immense power to elect their presidential candidate.

And yes, presenting yourself as a news organization and colluding with a candidate is fraud.

Imagine the likes of Hillary, Dan Rather, Brian Williams, and the rest of the Leftist liars lecturing anyone about fake news. As if somehow, they are the only ones allowed to commit fraud on the American public.

Consider the sad state of investigative journalism, Julian Assange, a former computer programmer confined to the Ecuadorian embassy in London provides more credible news exposing the Inner Party for the sanctimonious hypocrites they are, than all of the mainstream media who were in Hillary’s pantsuit pocket.  To my knowledge, WikiLeaks has not been caught in a single false report.

Gruber and Stupid Americans

Whew.  Maria Bartiromo is pissed and has a go at Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare who called Americans stupid as he got the law rammed through congress.

What I can’t stand about Gruber and his ilk, they always tell you things are better than what they predicted would happen.  So they predict a dire, worst case scenario outcome based on their nonsensical models (the big lie for the fear factor), and when their policy outcome is better than their made up outcome, they declare victory.  For them, success is besting a model they made up.  Not actually reducing health care costs, rather, besting a model.  Gruber actually believes that Obamacare has not stifled job growth, has not contributed to a GDP less than 2%.  He actually believes costs are going down, he has bent the cost curve.

Honestly, for people like Jonathan Gruber, President Obama, Hillary, Zeke Emmanuel, and all the illiberal political elites and intelligentsia, whether people can afford health insurance or not is of no concern.  Like the Media, Hollywood and Educational elites, and because of their wealth and power, they all are insulated from the destructive laws they pass.  For them, who cares if health insurance cost increase 50-100%, they are all multi-millionaires or the government is footing the bill.

A few examples. Continue reading

The Bias of Omission, Denigrating Catholics and Media Suppression

As a Libertarian in a minarchist sense, and student of politics, it is sad to see what has become of our supposed fourth estate, the profession of journalism, and especially investigative reporting in the mold of Woodward and Bernstein.

At best, the main stream media (MSM) print and broadcast, with a few exceptions, has become nothing but propaganda for one party with a statist, Leftist ideology offering mostly a daily dose of slovenly “reporting”, bias, and suppression. For my younger friends, look up Pravda.

Now, certainly this is not new, but I must say, in over thirty years of watching politics, the MSM today is most ruinous to the knowledge of our society and laughably one sided. They no longer hide their pretense. They wear their contempt for those they disagree on their sleeves.

Where is H.L. Mencken when you need him?

Did you know President Obama has over 30 former journalists working in his administration? Many top officials have very intimate relations with many media elites. It is incestuous my friends, unlike any time in our history. Continue reading

Reasonable People, Child’s Play, and a Banana

It’s all starting to become quite clear.

As I understand, an email string from John Podesta, Hillary’s campaign manager and former counselor to President Obama, and Cheryl Mills, Hillary’s top aide, reveals what’s really going on.

Simply, Hillary was not prosecuted for her crimes, despite FBI Director Comey’s list of laws broken, because they’d all go down, including the president and that wasn’t going to happen.  Yes, the fix was in.  Nixon and the Watergate cover up was child’s play compared to what is occurring today.

From Podesta’s email It’s clear, POTUS, the president himself communicated with Hillary on her unsecure, personal server.  Podesta’s email occurs on 4 March 2015 as Hillary was responding to a Benghazi Congressional subpoena to turn over her emails as required by law (two years after required), and Hillary’s team is trying to decide which emails to send and which to hold back and delete.  Here’s the actual email from John Podesta to Cheryl Mills:

“Think we should hold emails to and from potus? That’s the heart of his exec privilege. We could get them to ask for that. They may not care, but seems like they will.” Continue reading
